Do fiber protectors really work?
Professional strength, professionally applied fiber and fabric protectors definitely DO work, but it’s important to understand that they do not make your rugs, carpet, upholstery, and draperies bulletproof. Protectors allow a window of time to blot up a stain or spill, about 15 minutes. After that, the spill will begin to seep through the protective layer. They also allow for increased soil removal during vacuuming.
Fiber protectors need re-application after each professional cleaning, and if your rugs see a lot of foot traffic, you should clean and re-apply protector more frequently. The best time to apply fiber protection is when your textiles are new, or newly cleaned.
